3PL Authority
METHODOLOGY

A clear basis for comparison.

Public-source research, explicit commercial placement, and questions that help you verify fit.

What the directory contains

150 providers selected to cover a range of ecommerce fulfillment models. The directory is a curated starting set, not an exhaustive market survey or a measured performance ranking.

How category picks are selected

Each category has its own publisher-selected top pick and four alternatives. The category page explains the relevant published services, links to sources, and sets out what buyers should verify. A lead selection applies to that category, not to every fulfillment need. Editorial selections are separate from customer ratings and are not comparative performance awards.

How descriptions are written

Descriptions summarize provider-published service information and add original buying questions. Each profile links to its provider source. We do not claim to have toured facilities, audited performance, independently verified customer outcomes, or certified the companies listed.

How matching works

The matcher starts with the selected category’s five-provider shortlist, then filters by published channel and international-service tags. With no category selected, it uses the directory. Eligible results are alphabetical; no provider automatically receives first placement. Order volume, SKU count, notes, timing, and priorities go into your brief. They do not establish provider acceptance or change the filtering. Confirm product acceptance, capacity, and pricing directly.

How to interpret missing information

A missing service tag means it has not been included in this directory’s research scope, not necessarily that the provider cannot perform it. Contact the provider to establish acceptance, capacity, pricing, and the exact operating location.

Your next step

Request comparable written quotes, review contract terms, ask for relevant references, and validate product-specific requirements. Use a scorecard to record your own evidence.

Customer evidence and editorial research

Customer reviews are separate from our editorial buying notes. Reviewers provide their own rating and experience. Submissions start as pending and are checked for relevance, first-hand experience, confidential information, and abusive or promotional content. Positive and negative reviews use the same standards. Publication does not mean the experience has been independently verified.

The displayed rating is the arithmetic average of published customer ratings on this website. Pending and rejected submissions are excluded. With no published reviews, a provider is marked “Not yet reviewed.” Category selections are separate from customer ratings.

Verification and shareable badges

A verified company profile means our team checked company representation, the website, location and core services. Verification expires after 12 months and may be revoked. It is not a warehouse audit or regulatory certification. A relationship-verified customer review means evidence of the customer relationship was checked; it does not verify every performance claim.

Rating badges use the average of all published customer ratings on this site and show the review count. Verified relationships are counted separately. Featured badges describe publisher-selected placement, not an award or rating. No Top 3PL award is granted by these badges. Each badge links to a current status page showing its scope and dates. Every provider is subject to the same verification requirements.

Earlier CPG scoring framework

This framework applies only to legacy CPG assessments outside the October 28 rating edition. The new editorial star methodology below supersedes it for providers included in that edition.

The displayed editorial score runs from 1.0 to 5.0. We divide the underlying point total by 20, with a minimum displayed score of 1.0. A 90-point assessment therefore displays as 4.5/5. The underlying rubric remains out of 100 points: documented service coverage contributes up to 90 points, and independently verified operating results contribute up to 10 points. We selected this brief for brands needing direct-to-consumer and retail fulfillment alongside category and value-added services. It is not an overall quality ranking.

Independent operating evidence: 10 points

Award 5 points for an independently checked dispatch-timeliness report and 5 for an independently checked order-accuracy report. Each must identify the proposed facility, cover at least 90 consecutive days ending within the previous 12 months, define its numerator, denominator and exclusions, and include a named independent reviewer and accessible supporting findings. Provider marketing percentages, testimonials, and service tags do not qualify. No provider in this directory currently has qualifying evidence reviewed, so every provider receives 0 of these 10 points. This is an evidence gap, not a finding of poor performance.

One rule for every provider

Each recorded tag earns the full stated weight; an unrecorded tag earns zero. We do not award partial points or bonus points for featured placement. Ties are expected. The same calculation applies to every provider; editorial category placement does not add points.

Read a low score carefully

A specialist may be a strong choice for your needs while scoring lower against this broad CPG brief. Missing information is not proof that a service is unavailable. Scores can change as profiles are corrected. Ask the provider to confirm product acceptance, assigned facilities, capacity, pricing, and service terms before deciding.

What this does not measure

The evidence component measures the availability of qualifying independent reporting, not the level of warehouse performance. We do not grade actual accuracy or timeliness percentages, support quality, financial stability, or customer satisfaction. Customer review averages and verification badges are separate. These editorial numbers do not qualify a company for a verified badge.
